Case Study: Hiking Tools e-commerce website in Saudi Arabia

Hello Everyone, I am Hadeel and My Amazing Teammates Abrar Ahmed And Hebah AlAserei did UX research About creating a microsite named “Eida” for A large hiking trip booking website named “Siru”.

“Eida” website Concept

It is an online Saudi store where hikers can buy hiking equipment.

Problem Statment

Our Saudi Arabian hikers have difficulty finding hiking equipment, our Solution should provide a way for hikers to buy their equipment fast through our website and create an online blog to explore more.

key features

Based on our research including interviews, we found that most hikers want a local online store where they can buy and rent hiking tools and products and learn more about hiking practices, Therefore, we offered these features.

Research

Our Research Goal is:

1- To know the user’s main problems when buying hiking products.

2- To understand the user behavior when buying hiking products.

3- To meet the needs of the user when buying hiking products

We used a variety of research methods to find the best solution and practice, for example, survey, interview, C&C analysis, card sorting.

  • Survey

First, we conducted a survey to learn more about our target users’ behaviors, status, and needs and asked them if they were comfortable with doing an interview about our research and 52% responded that they interested.

  • Interviews

The hikers who are interested in doing the interview were interviewed and we asked them these questions:

1- Describe to me your latest hiking experience?

2- How should hikers prepare for hiking?

3- Tell me about the struggles that you face while purchasing hiking equipment?

4- What would you do if you get lost?

5- What do you need to make your hiking experience better?

The answers were very useful and informative, we organize them and summarize our interview statement.

After the statements, we categorize them based on similarity.

  • Rarely find hiking local store with clear information
  • They use the main tools such as umbrella — hat -hiking sticks- water, snakes, sunglasses, power bank, wet wipes, and emergency kit
  • They know what to do when they got lost

  • They like to plan their hiking trip
  • Their hiking trips typically include activities with groups
  • They need a hiking store that provides all their needs
  • Their important thing during hiking that they wear comfortable clothes and have the main tools
